Hebrews 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Jesus was not only the son of God, but he was a man too. He walked the face of the earth and faced many of the same “traps & pitfalls” we do. I think too often people forget that Jesus was tempted. He knows what it is like to face temptation. The methods may have changed, but temptation is still temptation. The word says “he is not unable to sympathize, but he was with out sin.
There is so much meat in this passage of scripture it is incredible.
The Word gives you an instruction that will help you overcome temptation when it is staring you in the eye. “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” That is critical when you are facing that “situation”. Get on your knees before the king and ask for the mercy and grace to overcome that situation. Jesus is our pattern for life. Let us try to live a life as if it matters, because it does!
