The Generation of Lost Believers…
Believers… That is a term that not only identifies us with Christ but defines us as His followers. I have the privilege of working with teenage believers on a daily basis. I have spent numerous hours talking, counseling, praying, and believing with them for God’s will to come to pass in their lives. It has become very apparent that we are living in a “lost” generation. That is a bold statement and there are exceptions, but this generation is lost on many different levels, particularly spiritually and morally. As I look back over the course of previous generations, many things were done to foster change in this current generation. Unfortunately, change is not always for the better.

Most student ministries I encounter are either relationship driven or event driven. In my opinion the most effective ministries are driven by relationship. A majority of student ministry leaders would claim that relationship is their philosophy and drives their ministry.
By relationship driven I mean staff or ministry leadership spending significant time recruiting, equipping and shepherding other adults, unleashing them to live life to life with students. Relational driven ministry is most effective when adults who love Jesus are spending intentional time with students, not simply teaching them information but really involved in their life.

Whenever your first child is born, it is such a joyful and fantastic experience. But, it is also a frightening experience because you have suddenly been charged with raising another life and hopefully not messing them up. It would be wonderful if they gave you an instruction manual before you left the hospital, but every kid is different. We have to know our kids to be able to guide them through this world that we live in. We realize that most of you, in addition to being a parent, have many other responsibilities and duties. As youth pastors, we are heavily involved in the youth culture of today, and spend countless hours researching current trends within the youth. That is one of the reasons that we love doing parent workshops… to inform you of these trends so that you can be aware of what is going on in your teenager’s world. Although there are numerous things that you should know about your teenager, we have come up with 10 things that every parent should know about their teenager.
